Policy & eligibility

NIPG provides subsidy or grant funding towards:

• Grade 10 and Grade 12 certificate upgrades (FODE / matriculation), within and outside NIP
• Higher education at approved Higher Education Institutions
• Postgraduate studies in PNG only

• Not receiving other payments towards fees from NIPG, and not a full-time NIPG employee.
• Born in NIP, or lived in NIP for at least 10 years with parents permanently resident; or parents transferred to NIP by Government or churches; or parents reside in NIP running a private business.
• Grade 10 or 12 certificates obtained from a high or secondary school in NIP.
• Not previously terminated from an institution for disciplinary reasons.
• Degree courses: GPA of 2.5 or above.
• Bank account (BSP or Westpac) must be in the student's own name.

1. Approval of the NIPG student subsidy application form.
2. Attendance / registration confirmation from the institution.
3. Copy of bank deposit or receipt for part payment — at least the balance of fees payable after the NIPG subsidy — or the full fees paid.
4. The official course fee details on the original institution letter of offer.
5. Subsidy is paid directly to the student. It is the student's responsibility to pay the institution or repay parents/guardians.

An application will be rejected if:

• it does not meet the eligibility criteria;
• the student received a subsidy last year and withdrew from studies without genuine reason;
• false or incorrect information is given with intent to defraud NIPG.

Recipients agree to at least two weeks of voluntary work experience in NIP, to follow their institution's rules, to acknowledge NIPG support, to take part in monitoring surveys, and on completion to serve NIPG or the province for a year.
